Jaipur, also popularly known as the Pink City, is the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan.
During the British rule in India, Jaipur was the capital of the princely state of Jaipur. It is the first planned city of India, located in the semi-desert lands of Rajasthan. The city was once the capital of the royalty. The very structure of Jaipur resembles the taste of the Rajputs and the Royal families
Jaipur city today has a population of more than 6 million. It is a major business center with all requisites of a metropolitan city. It is one of the fastest growing cities of the world. Jaipur is considered by many urbanists to be one of the best planned cities. The city was planned according to Indian Vastu Shastra which is the Vedic planning for the comfort and prosperity of the citizens.
In a recent International survey Jaipur was ranked the 7th best place to visit in Asia and in another poll it was ranked third among twelve major Indian cities. |
